Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. The actress is an actress, singer and dancer. Her early Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her performance as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is in the production of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. The film will stream on Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. In March of 2023 Ashford will return to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The group behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at helm of the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal actors into the very first impeachment trial in the United States in more than 100 years. Ashford was the main character in two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
